Unison Jacksonville Wins Manufacturing Business Excellence Award

Jun 22, 2022

Unison Industries was thrilled to win Silver at the 2022 Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence (SMBE) Awards earlier this month.

The award, run by The Sterling Council and FloridaMakes, celebrates Florida’s high-performing manufacturers. Unison’s Jacksonville headquarters was one of 23 finalists shortlisted out of a field of 160 nominees, with winners judged on their leadership, strategy, customers, measurement, analysis and knowledge management, workforce, and operations.

Tom Hoferer, President, Unison Industries, says, ‘We have some fantastic individuals across the Unison business, without whom we would not be where we are today. So it was an honor to be at the Sterling Manufacturing Business Excellence (SMBE) Awards on June 3 for the announcement that our Jacksonville site had been crowned the second best high-performing manufacturer in the state.”

Unison Industries has the customer at the heart of everything they do, striving to provide its vast customer base across the aviation, space and defense, power, oil and gas, and transportation sectors with world-class products and services. Unison’s model practices for strategic customer engagement were specifically called out by the judging panel and maintaining customer satisfaction has always been high on Unison’s agenda – through the use of multiple safety, quality, lean, and cost management tools over and above the industry standard FAA certifications.

“We can’t overstate how proud we are of the Jacksonville team, as we are about all Unison employees,” continues Tom. “From a competitive field of 23 globally known and respected manufacturers, it was the talent and dedication of each and every one of Jacksonville’s 500 employees which allowed us to take home the silverware.”

The Jacksonville site 500 employees and is proud to foster a culture where all employees can contribute and succeed. The site’s diverse workforce is comprised of 26 different nationalities, but there is still a strong sense of community on site, largely down to the Unison team themselves who have created an environment where employees feel like they are heard and respected. There are, for example, multiple employee resource groups as well as volunteering and community engagement opportunities available for staff to explore.

“A massive congratulations to all at Unison Jacksonville as well as the other winners and finalists. Together, we’re helping to put Jacksonville on the map!”
