Unison manufactures Generator Control Units (GCUs) that are designed for high reliability. Complementing our line of high performance Starter-Generators, our GCUs consistently outperform the industry standards.
The GCU incorporates all the normal control and protective functions required for a single or multi-engine powered aircrafts 28 V DC electrical power system. The control units use solid state components mounted on printed circuit boards. The boards utilize special solder pins which also serve as connector pins for ease in testing. Our GCUs are compact and lightweight and have been designed to operate with APC 28 V D.C. starter-generators and other compatible machines designed to the requirements of MIL-G-6162.
Each model number reflects the individual calibration and features required for each application. These requirements will be determined by the engine, installation and a customers' specific needs.
We were the first to introduce the patented "torque-limiting" system that reduces the wear of engine components. Unlike other GCUs, our models incorporate special functions, requested by aircraft manufacturers, to control other systems within the aircraft, saving them the cost and weight of separate control components.
Complementing our line of GCUs are our digital GCUs (DGCUs). The DGCUs features an automatic built-in-test with fault isolation to the LRU level for ease of maintenance of the electrical power system. Its design also makes use of benchmark components for increased drive capability for field excitation, and contactors control with lower power dissipation and operating temperatures for improved component reliability.

Generator Control Units
Our Generator Control Units incorporate the control and 28V DC protective functions required for a single of multiengine aircraft 28V DC starting/generating system.
